Major props need to go out to the girls at Vosges Haute Chocolates for being featured in February's Oprah Magazine O List.
I've been boasting about these exotic truffles for a few years now. They are simply amazing. I bought a box of 16, and Courtney and I would cut each truffle into 4 pieces to make sure we each got to try a little bit of everything.
I know that they are on the pricey side, make it a yearly or semi-yearly special purchase and reward yourself. You won't regret it.
I so need a pink chef jacket. But I can't seem to find one anywhere. Not even custom ordering options. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a white one and dye it pink. I'm just chicken, and haven't done it yet. I hate to ruin a $60 chef jacket over this.
Got any ideas?
I stayed home yesterday cause I felt a sore throat coming on when I woke up. So I thought that I would nip it in the bud. I spent the whole day in bed, freezing my ass off. I just couldn't get warm enough.
Now, I feel like crap. Sore throat, the chills are still hangin around, and now I have body aches. Dude, how many times can one person get sick in a six week period? This is number three for me!
This freakin sucks!
I just snapped some picture of Squaw Peak and Camelback Mountain with the storm clouds in the background.
Go check them out in the photoblog.
Am I the only one who is excited to see Kennedy back on TV?
She rocks! MTV has never been the same without her.
It's no secret that I love The Real World and Road Rules shows. I've been hooked from the beginning.
The last challenge, The Gaunlet was pretty good for mindless entertainment purposes, but The Inferno is going to kick it up a notch! MTV did a pretty smart thing by filming the shows almost back to back this time. Wounds are still gushing from The Gauntlet, and The Inferno will only cause the wounds to become infected. I'm dying to see Coral and Julie duke it out. I love Coral's response to Julie's man fight, "I beat bitches down!" Coral is only looking out for her friend Melissa, and you have to respect that. I would do the same in her shoes.
It's gonna get ugly people!
Local Phoenix band makes it big in Wired magazine this month.
Go check them and spread the word!
Ok maybe she didn't die, but in an artistic and personal sense she has to me. I graduated from culinary school back in 1997, and I headed into the culinary world a little scared an a little unsure of myself.
My first job and probably my favorite was making ice creams. Everyday was a met with a new flavor. Next bagel making, don't do this EVER! The hours were horrible and I didn't get along with the white trash staff who were jealous that I got off my ass and got a degree. That job only last a month, but I learned a lot about how to mass produce food. Then there was the rum cakes. My boss was really cool, but business wasn't. By summer of 1998, I was at Nordstrom's, opening the new cafe was exciting and helped me learn more about the business side of the kitchen.
Continue reading "Death of a Mentor"I'm stuck at work for another 20 minutes and the coverage of the Golden Globes just started, and all I have to watch it is a little black and white crappy TV. Could it be that everyone is wearing black and white this year?
They're making bacon wrapped scallops in tonight's class. The smell of bacon is all over the store. I just adore bacon! OMG! I'm dying over here!
So I made a dent in what I call my geek to-do list today.
I finished fixing and updating downsizing2schwabbies.com, and adding a PhotoBlog to that site.
Continue reading "My Geek To-Do List"I mentioned this actor just once, about 9 months ago....This is not a Josh Duhamel fan site. I love the guy, i really do. But I don't have anything else on my site about him. You're not going to find any pictures of him, or ramblings from me about him.
Please move along.
So one aspect of my second job is making sure that the classes go along smoothly. The instructors need to be prepared by 6pm..so that we can tidy up the kitchen before the students come in. Makes sense right?
Continue reading "What's Wrong With Being Prepared?"It really does...I feel better about my crappy night...I don't feel so responsible for the events that took place.
So I'm going to get ready to head out to the gym, and get out whatever is left of my agression. Then I'm headed to the MAC store for refills.
Ok, so I am minding my own business here at work tonight...I've introduced the class, and 24 people are ready to go. The chef takes over and I head to the back office to dig into my paperwork. Now this is where the shit hits the fan:
Continue reading "Why Does The Shit Fall On Me?"Chad turns 32 today...congrats man...we have been friends since we were 16, and I hope that we can continue to be friends for many more years. You have been the best friend that continues to amaze me and make me laugh everyday.
I love ya man!
Hey FTB, good luck on your interview today....I hope that you'll get out of our hell hole so you can be happy again.
I found these bumper stickers and totally thought of you:

I never thought that I would get into going to the spa thing, but I went for a facial today, and I feel so much better now. My face is still a little red, and I know that the dry skin and peeling are close behind...but once that's gone, I'll have clear, healthy skin again.
32 years old, and I still get the occassional breakouts...this glycolic facial I've been getting has really helped keep the breakouts under control, and even out my skin tone. I stings for about 3 minutes, but the results are well worth it.
It has gone by so flipin fast! I can't talk about or I'll get stressed out.
So I got up early today to see Sean run in the Rock-N-Roll Marathon. I think it was his first marathon. I took some pictures of the race for all to see.
Continue reading "CRAP! One Week Left"Finally! I got some insipration. What do you think about the new design? The links are inactive...I'll get those running later tonight...right now I have to head out to the store.
See ya!
To get FTB a date....cause he's a wonderful caring guy.
I can put up pictures FTB if you want :)
Ok, so I've thought about my goals for 2004....here's what I've got:
Continue reading "2004 Resolutions"Here's the background:
It will be about 10 years ago when these events occurred. I was friends with this girl Angie Gafford (names have not been changed). She was 19 then and I was 22-23. For whatever reason, we seemed to get along really well, and for a few years we were unsepratable. We did everything together, I even got her a fake ID so she could go to clubs with me. It was cool to have a friend I could hang out with. Some of my friends didn't like her, and told me that she was using me, but of course I was blind to it. I didn't really care what people thought about her, and I stuck up for her many times, as I thought she did the same for me. Apparently I was mistaken.
Continue reading "She Wrecked My Truck...I Have Every Right to be Pissed Off!"2003, another year down, and many more to go. It's just after Midnight, and I am getting tucked into bed with the doggies. Information about Shannon's Law has been all over the news and local papers all week, yet I still hear guns firing outside. Don't people ever learn? What is it going to take?
So let's take a look back at my 2003 memories:
