Stay Away From This A-Hole

greathousewares.jpg

Since I have my own website and I was treated badly, I'm going to voice my anger here. See eBay id above.

I needed a new dutch oven, and they can be expensive so I went to eBay to find a used or cheaper one. I was totally excited to find a seller in the Phoenix area, so I sent several emails asking if I could meet them in person to pay for the item since that would save on shipping for everyone involved. It took a the seller about 24hrs to respond. Which sucked cause I wanted to use it the same day, but I still wanted the dutch oven.

The seller agreed to meet me in person, and in their words "name the place and time". So I did. I sent an email on a Thursday asking to meet on Saturday morning at the Starbucks on 16th Street and Bethany Home Rd 10am. I didn't get any response, and I even sent two emails, one on Friday and one on Saturday morning just to confirm. I showed up at Starbucks and waited 45 minutes, no one ever showed. Thank god I had coffee cause I would have been steaming pissed right away.

I went back home and sent another email pissed that no one showed. I got a response back from someone named Kim apologizing for the mis-understanding..her 'supervisor' never let her know that my meet-up email was waiting for her. The apology seemed sincere enough, so I agreed to try it again. Kim asked for me to pick another meeting time and to wait for a response before heading out. So again I picked the same Starbucks, 6pm. I never heard back from Kim or anyone from GreatHouseWares. Silence.

I waited a week, just to make sure that there wasn't a mistake. I then attempted to use SquareTrade to help settle the issue. See below:

eBay User ID behindthewheel66 Reported Problems:

I made arrangements to meet seller and pay cash for item since we live in the same city. Seller agreed to waive shipping and agreed to meet in person to deliver the item. I emailed seller with meeting place on 10/15. We were to meet on 10/16 10am. Seller never showed. I sent another email to seller to resolve, seller apologized and asked for me to name the place, date and time. On 10/20, I sent email with details to meet on 10/21. I have never heard from seller again. I email seller on 10/21, still no response. This seller sucks. Poor communication skills.

Requested Solutions:

I will purchase the item less the time and effort I have spent trying to resolve this issue. I will purchase the item for $65. No more. Seller must pay for mediator if one becomes necessary.

I'm trying to be polite, and I think I did a good job at this point. I have since left these responses:

Thu, Nov 04, 2004 7:28 AM (PT) I can't believe you left feedback saying that I was a non paying bidder. you are so full of it. I am going to file a complaint with eBay. In case you have forgotten I have all the email from Kim stating that she was in wrong. I have your Phoenix address as well. I hope you rot for the scam that you have been trying to pull on honest people. Being mean does nothing. Your feedback is just a plain lie.

I will purchase the item for $65. This is a fair price considering all the time I have spent on this issue.

Now that seller has left negative feedback for me on eBay stating that I never paid. I don't use eBay much, so that can hurt me. Which is why I'm listing the details here on my website. I've turned the comments off for a reason on this post. Take this a warning not to use this eBay merchant. I also believe that the merchandise is stolen because there is no way in hell that someone can sell a Le Cruset dutch oven for 50% less than all the retailers. My belief is that whoever is running this operation works for a kitchen store like Sur La Table or Williams-Sonoma and they were not able to steal the item from their employer.

In all the many years I've used eBay, this has left a bad impression, and I will think twice before dealing with shady merchants on eBay.
