Tool Time!

Last night Courtney and I did some home improvement shopping. We got pretty much everything we need to install the new baseboards and crown molding for the living room. Including a brand new miter saw, and laser level. New tools for the house! Yippee!

What stinks is that it's not a job I can do by myself. Courtney isn't off from work this weekend to help me out. And with the rain, I can't start painting the boards. All this new stuff, and I can't do anything with it!

Well I guess that gives me time to work on my photoblog and a few BlogExplosion banner requests.

Shit is hitting the fan here at work!

Just Scream in the Rain

I rushed right out to Costco after work yesterday to pick up my copy of Garden State. I am completely in love with this movie and the soundtrack. Even though I've seen it five times in the theaters, I watched it again last night. The extras are really good also. See this movie!

Christmas was pretty normal. I got some really cool gifts this year. Remember the Le Crueset dutch oven that I was wanting? I got one from Cathy and Sean! I have pictures to post, and hopefully I can sit down this weekend to redesign my photoblog

That all for now!

Silent Night

Here I am at work. I barely made any attempt to get dressed this morning. No one is here, it's totally dead, but I'll probably hang out a bit longer. It's not so bad when people aren't bugging the shit out of me. My co-worker and I are listening to XM Ethel, and jamming out on cool tuneage.

So I've been fighting with MT-Captcha today. I just don't get it. I'm using the same setup as this blog. Why won't it work??? Anyways, I've enlisted help from all corners, so we'll see what mulitple heads can do. Then I'll be better equipped to tackle the requests I've gotten via email.

The BlogExplosion banner design is still open. Send in those requests! Did I mention that they are FREE?

Courtney is working until 7pm tonight. Then it's off to his dad's and maybe his brother's place for pre-Midnight Mass festivities. I have no idea what I'm going to wear for mass. Maybe I'll get some laundry done today. I've got all the Christmas shopping done. I'll be spending the afternoon wrapping gifts. Love wrapping gifts!

Don't forget the traditional viewing of A Christmas Story tomorrow on TBS. You gotta love it!

Much love to everyone. Have a wonderful holiday!

As If I Needed More To Do

When I have a few minutes at work I have been surfing the blogs on BlogExplosion. I thought that I would toss this out there to anyone who might be stopping by...

I'll make BlogExplosion banners for you. FREE. Why free, because I can. Plus it gives me something pretty to look when I'm surfing around. I know that there are services charging $10 per banner, but why pay when you can get a quality banner for FREE?

I'm sure I've opened the flood gates with this one, so I'll take the first 25 requests. If I get more than 25 requests, I'll come up with something.

Email me at: elisabet AT alittlegroup.com if you would like a banner.

Happy Holidays!

Spam Help

I've gotten a few requests to help install MT Captcha. I'll email those needing help, as I get the requests. I may not be able to sit down and work on these until later in the week...looks like it may be Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Just to set the expectation, I'm not a super technical geek, I followed the directions and managed to get the script installed pretty easily on this website. I will do my best to help everyone who needs it.

It's Monday

I need to share this with you because it's too funny to keep to myself.....

I felt a bit stuffy last night so I took some allergy meds, the drowsy kind. So when I woke up this morning I was still dopey from the meds. I did my usual routine and started to head out the door to meet Brian. I made a quick call to Courtney, while I was talking to him, I locked up the house and started up the car. We hung up, I backed out of the driveway, and headed on my way. I picked the phone up to call Brian, and I got half-way down the street before I noticed that I was calling him on my house phone. No wonder there was a ton of static on the phone.

Is this a sign of things to come today? The boss is out sick, and one of my co-workers just left sick. What else could happen?

Killing Spam Dead

I installed a very cool script to help eliminate the mass attacks of comment spam. So when you leave a comment, you will have to enter a security code in order to post the comment. I am praying that this kills spam dead in it's tracks. I think over the last week I have been hit like 600 times. MT-Blacklist got most of it, but I was still stuck deleting about a 100 comments.

Anyone who needs help installing this pulgin, I'll be happy to help.

My Crazy Life

Sorry for the silence over the last few days. Life has just gotten in the way. Courtney's grandfather was in the hospital, and I was helping Granny get back and forth. Thankfully he came home yesterday.

Year-end crap is dying down at work. We had a white elephant exchange at work, and I actually got something that I can use. I bought a set of luminaries for the yard a week ago. I set them up along both sides of the driveway, and it looked good. I told Courtney to be careful to not run any over when he pulls in. What do I do the next morning? Yeah, I ran over three of them. The white elephant gift was another luminarie set. Just enough to replace the ones I ran over.

I got set up with BlogExplosion the other day. Thank you for spending thirty seconds with me, and the nice comments. Now I'm totally addicted to surfing other member blogs and earning credits for banner impressions. What a great way to loose track of time! I'm not much of a political or religious person, and it seems like that's all I see on this thing...no offense, I'm just not into that stuff.

Just a few tips for bloggers....there is no need to put every blinkie, flashie thing on your website. Most of the time it doesn't coordinate with the blog, and detracts the readers. You don't have to link to every news service known to man...the more outside feeds you have, the longer it take your page to load. If traffic is coming from BlogExplosion, you only have thrity seconds to grab the reader, by the time all the feeds come in, the reader is gone. Make it pretty on the eyes. If you need help, go see these girls, BlogMoxie, they can totally help. If you're on a budget and can't afford a new design, drop me a comment, and I'll help you out. Just ask.

So back to work I go. Have a great day!

It's The Same Yet Different

While my website was down, I added a banner for Depeche Mode's latest Remix albums. Seriously this is some really good stuff.

If you're a fan, you'll love this remix:

How Hard Is It...

My desk is the first one you see when you walk into my office area. There are only six or seven of us in this office, so it's hard to miss anyone talking to you. When one enters the office i normally say, "Good morning", and not in that annoying Office Space voice. Just a simple 'good morning' to start your day off on a good note. It totally bugs me that this one person doesn't even acknowledge my cheery 'good mornings'. How hard can it be to say 'thank you', 'hello', or 'good morning' back?

It's A Good Day

I know it's going to be a good day already. I met up with Brian at Starbucks before work for a chat and Mocha. I get into the office, boss will be late, so I'm the only one here until like 9am. That means I can crank the tunes on XM's Lucy. Which of course I did like right away, and they are playing killer tunes this morning, right now it's the Charlatans UK "The Only One I Know", my fav. And it gets better, XTC!

It's going to be a great day! Happy Friday to all!

Catch Up

Now that I have moment, let me fill everyone in with my happenings during the downtime.

**Work has been crazy busy with year-end crap. I still love my job which is fabulous. People grate on my nerves, but it beats being on the phones any day!

**IKEA opened! I am so addicted it's not even funny. You know how you can go to Target and a simple trip for Q-Tips turns into a $40 dollar spending spree. That's IKEA to me. $1.29 shower curtin liner, pillows, bath rugs, and before you know it I've spent $80. It's just nuts!

**Gingerbead classes are in full swing at Sur La Table. Fun fun!

**We made our first and second mortgage payments. I feel so grown-up and worse old! I have to remind myself that I am building a better future with every payment.

**Joey drama has minimized for the most part. We hang out, and it's fun. He's trying to make a better life for himself. Baby steps man.

**The puppies are good. The newest member of the clan, Winston, is growing so fast. He's just adorable.

**I finished my quilting class. I have decided that if money was no object, that I would quilt all day everyday. I love it. It's such a lost art.

I have pictures which I will post soon. I'm going to redesign the photoblog next. So what has everyone been up to?

All Better Now

Ok I fixed the issue with my positioning. It now looks good in both IE and Firefox. Maybe now I can stop obssessing about it. I swear this crap makes me loose sleep. And I need all the sleep I can get these days!

For those who need help with CSS positioning,
check out this article. ALA is a great design resource, check them out!

Ok, so this new design kicks ass when viewing in Mozilla. Which in my opinion is the better browser. IE is just pissing me off today! AAARRRRGGGHH!

I need to step away from the computer. Ok off to go grocery shopping.

Working Late

So I'm determined to get things back up this weekend. It's 4am right now and I've been up almost 24hrs. Courtney should be getting up in about 30 minutes. I'm going to crash after I get this entry up.

So pardon my dust while I get things running. Archives and comments have not been redesigned. I'm working as fast as I can. Hang in there gang!

Oh, this new design works best in FireFox. If you don't have it, you need it. Go get it now!
